Frequently asked questions about Bulletlink

Real questions. Honest answers.

Everything you need to know about Bulletlink, the cms for newspapers.

What's the difference between Bulletlink and WordPress?

Honestly, they're not in the same category.

WordPress is for everyone. Bloggers, shop owners, real estate agents, podcasters. Digital publishers can use it, sure, but it wasn't made for newsrooms. You end up duct-taping plugins together for things like paywalls, classifieds, and digital editions. And every plugin is one more thing that can break.

Bulletlink is built for one thing: digital publishers. Paywalls, classifieds, ad management, and digital editions are all built in. Nothing to install. Nothing to configure for hours.

The other thing people don't realize: with WordPress, hosting and security updates are your problem. With Bulletlink, your site sits on Cloudflare's network. We handle updates and security in the background, so your editor doesn't need to know what a plugin even is.

If you want to focus on great journalism instead of fighting your website, that's why Bulletlink exists.

If we migrate to Bulletlink, will we be stuck with you?

No. Your data is yours. Always.

We don't believe in trapping clients. If you ever decide Bulletlink isn't the right fit, we'll help you migrate to another platform for free. That's actually written into our terms, so it's not just a promise.

The way we see it, you should stay with Bulletlink because the product and the support are good, not because we made it painful to leave. If we ever stop earning your business, we'd rather hand over your data and part on good terms.

What happens to our design when we migrate to Bulletlink?

Don't worry. You can keep your design exactly as it is.

We'll rebuild it on Bulletlink so it looks the same as it does now. Same headers, same colors, same fonts, same layout. Your readers shouldn't notice anything is different, except the site will load faster on phones.

A lot of publishers ask us this because they've spent time and money on their current design and don't want to start over. You don't have to.

Later on, if you want to refresh things, we have plenty of designs you can pick from. Or we can build something custom. But that's a conversation for whenever you're ready, not something you have to deal with on day one.

Got a mockup? We can build it.

Send us anything you have, a Figma file, a Photoshop mockup, a sketch on paper, or even a written description of what you want, and we'll turn it into your live publication.

You don't need to send polished designs. Some publishers come to us with a clear vision and exact files. Others come with a rough idea and a few notes. Both work.

Once we have your mockup, our team builds it out on Bulletlink within 24 hours, makes it mobile-first, and shows you a working preview before anything goes live. You give feedback, we adjust, and we keep going until it looks right.

This is included in your setup. No extra design fee.
